Dar Orders Speedy Disposal, Digitisation of Confiscated Vehicle Auctions

ISLAMABAD, Aug 04 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday directed authorities to expedite the disposal of confiscated and tampered vehicles, initiate digitisation of the auction process, and adopt international best practices to ensure greater transparency and efficiency.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the DPM’s Office to review existing laws and procedures concerning seized and tampered vehicles, Dar emphasized the need to modernize systems and close loopholes in the disposal and auction processes.

A comprehensive briefing was presented by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), outlining current legal provisions and challenges faced by customs authorities. Participants discussed various proposals aimed at streamlining vehicle auctions and addressing the misuse or prolonged holding of tampered vehicles.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM), Attorney General for Pakistan, Secretary Information, Chairman FBR, and senior officials from the Customs department.

Dar stressed that digitising and outsourcing parts of the auction process, alongside legal reforms, would help align domestic practices with global standards, reduce delays, and enhance revenue generation.
