ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (Alliance News): The Alliance HealthTech Summit & Expo 2026 convened leading policymakers, healthcare professionals, academics, think tanks and youth representatives to deliberate on the future of digital health in Pakistan, underscoring the need for technology-driven and science-based healthcare solutions.

The summit, jointly organised by Alliance Good Governance Foundation and the Pakistan Young Academy (PYA), served as a high-level platform to advance dialogue on strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare system through innovation, digital transformation and evidence-based policymaking.

 

Speakers stressed the urgency for Pakistan to accelerate the adoption of digital health technologies and integrate scientific research into healthcare delivery to enhance access, quality and efficiency nationwide.

Dr. Soofia Yunus, Director Programmes at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, highlighted the government’s strategic initiatives aimed at shaping public health policy and advancing digital transformation programmes that affect millions of citizens.

Dr. Rutabah Ikram, Deputy Registrar and Head of Registration & Licensing Directorate at the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority, emphasised the importance of ensuring quality and patient safety standards, noting that robust regulatory frameworks are essential in an evolving digital healthcare environment.

Dr. Ahmad Usman Yousuf, Assistant Registrar at the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, underscored the need for strong credentialing and professional standards to ensure healthcare practitioners remain qualified and accountable in a rapidly digitising sector.

Dr. Fahd S. Kakakhel, Founder and CEO of Pak Health Consultants and Executive Director and CEO of the Digital Health Association Pakistan, highlighted the importance of bridging policy vision with practical implementation, particularly through digital platforms that expand healthcare access across Pakistan.

Dr. Muhammad Qasim, CEO of Cytotech and Premium International Hospital and a member of the Global Young Academy, pointed to the growing role of Pakistani entrepreneurs in developing scalable healthtech solutions capable of serving millions, calling for enhanced public-private collaboration.

In his keynote address, Convenor Alliance Good Governance Foundation Dr. Tariq Khan observed that rapid technological advancements are reshaping every sphere of society and will soon transform Pakistan’s healthcare landscape. He described the summit as a timely initiative, noting that while the world is already implementing advanced digital health systems, Pakistan must act decisively to keep pace.

Dr. Khan stressed that effective governance, underpinned by strong policy frameworks and forward-looking legislation, remains the only sustainable pathway for harnessing technology in healthcare. He noted that the pace of transformation in the coming years will be unprecedented, fundamentally altering healthcare delivery, public health management and patient care.

He urged policymakers, healthcare professionals, academia and private sector stakeholders to collectively invest in innovation, strengthen regulatory mechanisms and build institutional capacity to prepare for the impending transformation.

The summit concluded with a unified commitment to accelerate digital health adoption, strengthen governance through policy reform and legislation, and position Pakistan to benefit from the next wave of global health technology advancements. Stakeholders reaffirmed their resolve to promote inclusive, accessible and technology-enabled healthcare services for all citizens.
