Muslim Nations Warn Israel’s Gaza Ceasefire Violations Threaten Regional Stability

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (Alliance News): Pakistan and several other Muslim and Arab countries have warned that Israel’s repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire pose a serious risk to peace and stability across the region, amid growing international concern over renewed violence in the besieged enclave.

In a joint statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — all founding members of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace — strongly condemned Israel’s repeated breaches of the ceasefire. The statement noted that these violations have resulted in the killing and injury of more than a thousand Palestinians since the truce came into effect.

The warning followed intense Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Saturday, described as among the deadliest since the October ceasefire. According to reports, more than 30 people were killed in attacks on residential houses, tents and a police station, including three young girls from the same family. Gaza’s health authorities said the strikes added to an already dire humanitarian situation in the territory.

Hamas, which retains control of nearly half of Gaza, where almost all of the enclave’s more than two million residents are living in makeshift shelters and damaged buildings, accused Israel of violating the truce. The group did not confirm whether any of its members or facilities were targeted in the latest attacks.

“These actions risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts aimed at consolidating calm and restoring stability,” the Foreign Office said, expressing grave concern over the impact of continued hostilities on regional security.

The statement added that the ceasefire violations were taking place at a critical moment, when regional and international stakeholders were collectively working to advance the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan and implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. According to the foreign ministers of the participating countries, Israel’s actions constitute a direct threat to the political process and obstruct ongoing efforts to transition Gaza towards a more stable phase, both in security and humanitarian terms.

The ministers stressed that sustained violations jeopardise attempts to create conditions conducive to early recovery, reconstruction and long-term stability in the Gaza Strip. They underlined the necessity of full commitment by all parties to ensure the success of the second phase of the peace initiative.

Calling for restraint, the foreign ministers urged all sides to uphold their responsibilities during what they described as a highly sensitive period. They emphasised the importance of preserving the ceasefire, avoiding actions that could derail the current diplomatic process, and supporting measures that would allow humanitarian relief and reconstruction to move forward without obstruction.

The statement also reaffirmed the group’s commitment to a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue. It emphasised that lasting peace can only be achieved through recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, in accordance with international law, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The coordinated warning reflects mounting concern across the Muslim world that renewed violence in Gaza could ignite wider instability, at a time when diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further escalation and address one of the region’s most protracted conflicts.
