ISLAMABAD, Jul 17 (Alliance News): The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Housing and Works on Thursday expressed serious concerns over issues related to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), including pending payments for land acquisition, built-up properties, and overall project delays.
Chaired by Moulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, MNA, the committee formed a Sub-Committee under Anjum Aqeel Khan, MNA, with Seema Mohi-ud-Din Jamali, Ibrar Ahmad, and Mehboob Shah as members. The sub-committee will examine key challenges faced by the FGEHA and suggest possible solutions.
The committee also reviewed the status of previous recommendations and confirmed the minutes of the meeting held on May 2. It further passed the Pakistan Infrastructure Development and Assets Management Authority Bill, 2024, with amendments and reservations.
A key concern raised was ensuring the protection of Public Works Department (PWD) employees’ rights during any structural transitions.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHA-F) gave a detailed briefing on the organization’s mandate, staffing, and progress on various housing schemes.
He emphasized PHA-F’s function as a self-sustaining body under the Ministry of Housing and Works, dedicated to providing affordable housing without reliance on government grants.
The committee appreciated PHA-F’s performance and instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to prioritize development work, especially along 17th Avenue, to support ongoing PHA-F projects.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Anjum Aqeel Khan, Ibrar Ahmad, Nasir Iqbal Bosal, Anwar Ul Haq Chaudhary, Syed Sami Ul Hassan Gilani, Seema Mohi-ud-Din Jamali, Dr. Darshan, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, Mehboob Shah, Saleem Rehman, Usman Ali, Muhammad Shabir Ali Qureshi, and Shagufta Jumani (via Zoom).
