Pakistan, Bangladesh Look to Build Bridges

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to boost trade and people-to-people contacts with Bangladesh, urging stronger cooperation in political, economic, and cultural areas.

Meeting with Bangladesh High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, who paid a courtesy call, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the growing engagement between the two nations in various fields.

Recalling his recent “warm and productive” interactions with Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus, including their last meeting at the D-8 Summit in Cairo in December, Shehbaz welcomed the revival of bilateral mechanisms and stressed the need to maintain momentum in strengthening ties.

The Bangladeshi envoy briefed the prime minister on steps being taken by both sides to ease travel, trade, and connectivity. He expressed commitment to deepening the historic friendship between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Shehbaz wished the high commissioner success in his role, assuring him of full support and expressing confidence that his tenure would bring further positive developments in bilateral relations.
