BRUSSELS, July 18 (Alliance News): Pakistan and the European Union (EU) on Thursday held the 10th round of their Political Dialogue in Brussels, reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation under the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP) signed in 2019.

The dialogue also addressed regional and global developments, including the situations in Gaza, Ukraine, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The two sides expressed a shared commitment to enhanced collaboration across all areas under the SEP, including trade, development, climate change, security, and human rights. Both reaffirmed continued engagement under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) framework.

Pakistan and the EU also recognized the value of ongoing collaboration on migration and agreed to convene the third Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Dialogue in 2025.

Discussions on security cooperation included counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics, with both sides condemning all forms of terrorism and emphasizing respect for international law and diplomatic solutions to global conflicts.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza also featured prominently, with both sides calling for an immediate ceasefire and reaffirming support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

They also stressed peaceful resolutions for the war in Ukraine and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with the UN Charter.

Looking ahead, the parties agreed to hold the 7th Strategic Dialogue in 2025 and the next Political Dialogue in 2026 in Islamabad.

The EU delegation was led by Olof Skoog, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service, while Pakistan’s delegation was headed by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.
