ISLAMABAD, Aug 6 (Alliance News): President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday received the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Pakistan, Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Alkharusi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr and discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to deepen political, economic, and cultural ties for mutual benefit. President Zardari underscored the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Oman, rooted in shared religion, cultural heritage, and common values.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening leadership-level interactions to reinforce the already cordial relationship between Islamabad and Muscat.
“Pakistan is keen to expand bilateral trade and investment in key sectors including information technology, construction, healthcare, food security, and energy,” the president stated.
President Zardari also stressed the role of government-to-government engagement in creating opportunities for private-sector collaboration, which he said would be crucial to increasing trade and investment flows between the two countries.
Expressing his appreciation, the president thanked Oman for its support of Pakistan’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council (2025-2026).
He also extended gratitude to the Omani government for hosting over 400,000 Pakistani expatriates, noting that they not only contribute significantly to Oman’s development but also serve as a vital bridge of friendship and goodwill.
Ambassador Alkharusi reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to further strengthening ties with Pakistan and appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani community in Oman.
