TIANJIN, Sep 1 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, where both leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors and expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in Pakistan-Iran relations.
During the meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep commitment to its historic and brotherly ties with Iran, stressing the shared foundations of history, culture, and faith that continue to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and federal ministers were also present.
President Pezeshkian lauded Pakistan’s consistent support and reiterated Iran’s determination to enhance bilateral collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Referring to his recent visit to Pakistan, he said the warm welcome by the Pakistani people reflected the strong bonds between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz underlined the need to deepen political and economic engagement, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with the people and government of Iran.
He emphasized dialogue and diplomacy as the only path to regional peace and stability.
The Iranian president also extended condolences over the loss of lives and property in the floods across Pakistan, assuring that Iran stood firmly alongside Pakistan in this time of difficulty.
