Turkish Defence Minister Meets PAF Chief to Enhance Bilateral Defence Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Jul 9 (Alliance News): A high-level delegation led by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Turkiye, Mr. Yasar Güler, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting covered regional security developments, progress on existing defence collaborations, and future opportunities in emerging domains of modern warfare.

Air Chief Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed the enduring brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkiye, underscoring shared strategic goals and mutual aspirations. He expressed PAF’s commitment to deepening collaboration in advanced training and aerospace technologies. Both sides agreed to establish joint working groups to accelerate progress in key sectors of mutual interest.

Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Güler expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and praised the PAF’s exemplary performance and operational readiness during the recent conflict with India. He commended the PAF’s leadership and its effective defence of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Highlighting the fraternal bonds between the two countries, Minister Güler emphasized Turkiye’s strong interest in expanding defence ties, particularly through joint ventures in disruptive technologies, avionics, and unmanned aerial systems.

He also appreciated PAF’s support in the pilot exchange programme, terming it crucial for mutual professional development and operational synergy.

The two leaders also agreed to finalize enhanced training frameworks and to increase the scope and scale of joint air exercises, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

The Turkish minister’s visit marks a reaffirmation of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye and reflects a shared resolve to expand institutional military cooperation for regional peace and technological advancement.
