GENEVA, July 14 (Alliance News): The Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates has signed two key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office.
The agreements aim to strengthen collaboration in developing the UAE’s intellectual property (IP) framework in line with global best practices.
The MoUs were formalized during the UAE delegation’s participation in the 66th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva, in the presence of UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.
These agreements cover multiple strategic areas such as digital transformation, talent development, and improved coordination in the fields of industrial property and patent registration.
They also highlight the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to streamline patent search and classification processes.
Minister bin Touq emphasized the UAE’s ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive and modern IP ecosystem.
He described the partnerships with Spain and Morocco as significant steps toward technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the adoption of efficient and internationally aligned registration standards.
