Financially empowered women vital for economic development, family support: Farzana Aqib

ISLAMABAD, Mar 14 ( Alliance News): The financial empowerment of the women were inevitable not only to make them contribute to the national economic development but also support their own families.

These views were expressed by the chairperson film, Literature and Revival of Publication Committee at Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Farzana Aqib (a wife of famous cricketer Aqib Javed) in a seminar on women empowerment jointly organized by the LUMS University Lahore and United We Are.
  

She, while addressing the seminar as chief gust said that the financial empowerment of the women would also help address their sense of deprivation besides enabling them to play their role for country’s progress.

Sharing life story of her struggle and untiring efforts behind her successful career, she said its quite easy to have pictures with a well-known and famous  personalities, but no body would dare to know or trying to see struggle behind his or her successful achievement and  efforts to reach on this point of fame.

Farzana Aqib shared her success stories how she came to this business along with having families responsibilities and how she found it difficult to manage all things in one go.

While addressing the seminar, Retd. PAF Air Commodore Khalid Chishti emphasized the women are more passionate to contribute in national development, besides play a significant role in to establish socially strong and sustainable society keeping in view the future challenges.

He has quoted so many examples of women empowerment and women entrepreneur from the Islamic History where women not only practically involved in businesses but also looks active to set up social set up.

He hoped and said “I would say women should come up with a thought to break social taboos  that women can not start their work or business out side the home.”
Participating in the debates first Food Scientist of Pakistan, Chief Executive Office food tech solution YUMS groups Nighat Jawwad said that an educated and fully empowered woman can empower another segment of the society including women by motivating them on different issues and providing right information about their well being and future goals.
Women belongs to village are not well aware about their right but some how they a much empowered in their matters, in their routine life and every day businesses, she remarked.
She said that what to talk of leaving their homes, even it was considered an offence for the women to talk to anyone in the dark ages as they used to face immense discrimination.

However, she said the women in current age were aware of their rights as well as the responsibilities besides being rich with huge capabilities.

She was of the view and said women should come forwarded and play their constructive, role in the national development to build up sustainable society for future generations.

Mailk Slaman Aslam taking part in the discussion and said that different laws to protect women has been approved and being implemented across the country, which he termed a good omen for women and for Pakistan’s soft image on international level.

Mentioning the historic role played by the women in the Pakistan Movement, he said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had linked the national development with the women playing their role alongside the men.

He informed the gathering that a lot of measures had been taken by the government for women’s empowerment including legislation and awareness on their property rights and providing easy loans.

He said besides fulfilling their responsibilities, the women were also standing shoulder to shoulder with men in the fields of education, health and sports to contribute to the country’s prosperity.

Found of Knowledge hub, Ayesha Mahmood Butt also spokes to the seminar and advised the women to get education besides following the national values as they were also a primary learning source for a child.

Appreciating the women contributions in businesses, she said the women consisted of 50% of country’s population of Pakistan and had been playing a responsible role for country’s development.

She also urged the successful women to guide those from backward areas regarding their rights particularly the physically challenged ones. She also called for efforts for deliverance of the women suffering from exploitation in name of social traditions.

She also stressed the need for awareness among the women regarding the facilities available for their empowerment as well as remedies available for protection of their rights.
