ISLAMABAD, Jul 07 (Alliance News): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Monday finalized monsoon preparedness plans, emphasizing enhanced coordination among the CDA, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), District Administration, and the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) to tackle seasonal challenges.
The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, was attended by CDA Board Members, Directors General of various departments, and senior officials, including the Director of DMA.
The session focused on devising a swift and coordinated response to potential urban flooding, drainage blockages, and other monsoon-related emergencies in the federal capital.
Chairman Randhawa announced that he would personally oversee joint field operations to ensure efficient service delivery during the monsoon season. He stressed the need for a high-alert posture from all concerned departments.
“All formations of CDA, MCI, and the district administration must remain vigilant and work in close collaboration,” Randhawa stated. “Traffic flow must not be disrupted, and water accumulation in low-lying areas should be addressed without delay.”
He issued directives for the immediate cleaning of stormwater drains and removal of obstructions to ensure uninterrupted drainage.
He warned against any lapses in response, urging officers to take proactive and practical steps to address issues as they arise.
Randhawa also directed that focal persons from each formation be designated specific responsibilities to streamline communication and ensure coordinated field operations.
He instructed that teams remain on-ground and responsive throughout rainy spells.
Following the meeting, the CDA chairman visited various areas of the capital to review on-ground preparedness. He praised the CDA teams for their performance during recent rainfall and urged them to maintain the same level of diligence and commitment throughout the monsoon season.
