RAWALPINDI, Nov 26 (Alliance News): Participants of the National Security Workshop-27 (NSW-27) on Wednesday visited the General Headquarters (GHQ), where they received comprehensive briefings on Pakistan’s regional and internal security dynamics, as well as the prevailing national security environment.
The delegation held an interactive session with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, who highlighted the rapidly evolving regional landscape shaped by geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism and hybrid threats.
According to an ISPR press release, he emphasized that despite externally supported militancy and information-centric warfare, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence agencies and law-enforcement institutions continue to demonstrate unwavering professionalism and resolve in safeguarding the nation.
The COAS said Pakistan is a “country of consequence” destined to secure its rightful place in the comity of nations. He noted that the professionalism and commitment displayed during Marka-e-Haq had further strengthened Pakistan’s global standing.
Reaffirming that national unity remains the country’s greatest strength, he vowed that Pakistan will defeat the nefarious designs of its adversaries, Insha’Allah.
Participants were also briefed on national efforts to curb illegal activities, including operations against smuggling, narcotics trafficking and organised crime.
Updates were provided on strengthened border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners aimed at maintaining internal order and safeguarding national interests.
The COAS reiterated that the security, territorial integrity and protection of every Pakistani citizen remain paramount for the Pakistan Army and will not be compromised under any circumstances.
He reaffirmed the Army’s support to federal and provincial governments, stressing that coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy are vital for sustainable peace, stability and prosperity.
NSW-27, the flagship programme of the National Defence University (NDU), comprises Parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers and representatives from academia and civil society.
