ISLAMABAD, April 25 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday directed authorities to ensure the timely and transparent privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), emphasizing that all proceedings be broadcast live on television and digital platforms to maintain full transparency.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review PIA’s privatization process, the prime minister said roadshows and active investor engagement are crucial to the success of the plan. He instructed that the same level of transparency be applied to the privatization of all state-owned enterprises in the future.
The meeting was briefed on the investor outreach strategy, bidding criteria, timeline, and conditions for participation in the process. The strategy was said to be implemented in coordination with privatization consultants.
Key attendees included Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, along with Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Advisors Muhammad Ali and Syed Tauqir Shah, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and SIFC’s National Coordinator Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ahmed.
