ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (Alliance News): Turkiye’s Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu on Friday called on Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters, where the two sides discussed the regional security environment and bilateral defence cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional and global security landscape, and prospects for further strengthening defence and military collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye were reviewed during the meeting.
On his arrival at the General Headquarters, General Bayraktaroğlu was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The ISPR said both sides expressed satisfaction over the current trajectory of Pakistan-Turkiye relations and underscored the need for close coordination and enhanced defence cooperation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, rooted in shared history, mutual trust and strong people-to-people ties.

He appreciated the continued support and cooperation of the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening military-to-military relations.
General Bayraktaroğlu thanked the Pakistani side for the warm reception and lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He reiterated Turkiye’s resolve to deepen defence cooperation, including training programmes, joint exercises and capacity-building initiatives.
The ISPR said the visit reflected the enduring strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to regional peace, stability and security.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Chief of General Staff also called on Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted historical friendship and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkiye, anchored in shared history, faith and mutual respect.
General Bayraktaroğlu appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region and emphasised Turkiye’s desire for lasting regional stability, including peace in Afghanistan. He stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation to prevent conflict and promote collective security.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif expressed gratitude for the steadfast support and principled stance of the Turkish leadership and people, particularly during challenging times.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability through engagement, restraint and cooperation with regional partners. Both sides also discussed enhanced defence and security collaboration.
