ISLAMABAD, June 23 (Alliance News): In a landmark move to enhance digital education and bridge the educational divide in Pakistan, Jazz, the country’s leading digital operator, has signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council and Tech Valley, the exclusive Google for Education partner in Pakistan.
The agreement, signed during a formal ceremony at the Jazz headquarters in Islamabad, aims to transform education delivery, build capacity, and empower underserved communities through technology-led learning initiatives.
The collaboration is poised to reshape Pakistan’s digital learning landscape by uniting the technological expertise and digital reach of Jazz, the global educational frameworks of the British Council, and the innovative ed-tech tools provided by Tech Valley.
Through this strategic alliance, the three organizations will work together to roll out inclusive learning programs focused on teacher training, youth capacity building, and the design of educational technology solutions specifically tailored to marginalized groups, including girls and learners in remote areas.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer at Jazz, emphasized that the partnership was not merely about connectivity but about providing every learner—regardless of their location or background—with the tools and opportunities to thrive in a digital world.
He noted that education should not be limited by geography, gender, or social standing and highlighted the company’s long-standing vision to build an inclusive and empowered digital society.
Mehdi remarked that the alliance was a testament to how digital technology could serve as a catalyst for unlocking the full human potential of Pakistan’s youth and women.
James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council Pakistan, expressed his excitement over the partnership, calling it a major step forward in supporting Pakistan’s efforts to meet the educational needs of its vast population.
He noted that for the first time, the British Council was bringing together its experience in global learning with Google’s education platform and Jazz’s extensive infrastructure to reach the farthest corners of the country.
He described the collaboration as an opportunity to drive real change in classrooms and communities by making high-quality education accessible and equitable.
Umar Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley, said the alliance was a “game-changer” for Pakistan’s educational and social development trajectory. As the national partner for Google for Education, Tech Valley is uniquely positioned to provide cutting-edge learning tools and platforms.
Farooq said the initiative would build a complete learning ecosystem by combining Jazz’s digital power, the British Council’s curriculum design, and Tech Valley’s technical innovation.
He stressed the long-term vision of the partnership was to empower the next generation of learners and educators through scalable, tech-driven solutions.
The partnership also underscores Jazz’s commitment to social responsibility and digital inclusivity. With over 100 million users nationwide, Jazz has evolved from a telecom provider into a platform-based ServiceCo offering fintech, self-care, entertainment, gaming, cloud services, and now education.
Through its various verticals, Jazz aims to enhance lives by delivering technology that fosters economic and social empowerment.
This collaboration comes at a critical time when Pakistan faces numerous challenges in the education sector, particularly in remote and rural areas where access to quality learning remains limited.
The combined resources of Jazz, the British Council, and Tech Valley will help scale up digital education infrastructure, train thousands of teachers in the use of modern tools, and develop interactive, engaging content that aligns with local learning needs.
Over the next two years, the initiative will roll out digital learning centers, conduct nationwide teacher training sessions, and implement customized learning management systems to monitor progress and adapt to student feedback.
These efforts will also support Pakistan’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to education and gender equality.
The success of this partnership will be measured through tangible improvements in digital literacy, academic performance, and access to learning resources among disadvantaged groups.
It is also expected to set a new standard for public-private partnerships in the education sector, creating a model that can be replicated in other developing regions.
As Pakistan continues its journey toward digital transformation, this collaboration represents a bold and necessary step in reimagining the country’s educational future.
It demonstrates how combining innovation, global expertise, and connectivity can create a more inclusive and empowered society, where every learner has the chance to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
