ISLAMABAD, Jul 17 (Alliance News): Parliamentary Party Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, underscored the vital role of literary institutions like the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in shaping national identity and pledged his continued support to such organizations.

Speaking to APP, Senator Siddiqui, who also chairs the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, commended the inauguration of a newly renovated hall named after renowned poet Sheikh Ayaz and lauded the commemorative event held at PAL to honor the literary legacy of Patras Bokhari.

He described the gathering as a meaningful and graceful tribute to Patras Bokhari—a towering figure in humor writing, diplomacy, education, and broadcasting. Siddiqui praised the academy’s leadership under Dr. Najeeba Arif, stating that her efforts in organizing such intellectually enriching events deserve high praise.

The Senator emphasized the importance of such literary celebrations, particularly for youth, as they provide exposure to refined, thoughtful, and inspirational environments. “These events are a lesson in grace, intellect, and cultural identity for the younger generation,” he noted.

Highlighting Bokhari’s significant contributions, Siddiqui mentioned his deep association with radio broadcasting and his excellence across multiple domains. He urged the continuation of such initiatives to preserve and promote Pakistan’s literary heritage.

“These institutions are the spirit and soul of a nation, recognized and cherished globally,” Senator Siddiqui stated, expressing hope that literary platforms like PAL will not only continue to operate but will thrive in the future.

A large number of writers, scholars, and literature enthusiasts attended the commemorative event, reflecting strong public interest and support for literary traditions in Pakistan.
