ISLAMABAD, July 18 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that he has requested the restoration of Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company (SRBC), aiming to safeguard the jobs of over 300 employees affected by its liquidation.
Speaking to the media outside the IHC, Tarar clarified that the liquidation process of SRBC began well before he assumed charge as information minister.
“The livelihood of more than 300 families is at stake. It is imperative to restore SRBC for their protection,” he stated.
He said the court has instructed the submission of a viable business plan and directed the liquidator to ensure payment of salaries to SRBC staff.
Tarar also commented on the national carrier’s progress, crediting the current government for the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to Europe and the United Kingdom. He criticized a former government for “reckless remarks” that he claimed led to massive losses for PIA.
In response to a media question, Tarar strongly criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, calling it “a hub of incompetence, corruption, and mismanagement.” He condemned its failure to rescue stranded tourists in Swat River, saying the tragic incident exposed the administration’s inefficiency.
