ISLAMABAD, Jul 23 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to providing a safe and business-friendly environment for the Chinese community in Pakistan, emphasizing that the confidence of Chinese investors is crucial for the country’s economic growth.
Chairing a high-level meeting on the security of Chinese nationals, the prime minister said, “China is our friendly country, and the protection of our Chinese brothers is the top priority of the government.”
He added that special measures are being implemented to strengthen the security of Chinese citizens across the country, especially in Islamabad.
He highlighted the development of Safe City projects across Pakistan as a major step in enhancing urban security, saying these initiatives were being built to international standards and exemplified Pakistan’s growing capacity for safety and surveillance.
The premier stressed the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it a “highly important joint project” that has now entered its second phase focused on business-to-business cooperation.
In this context, the safety of Chinese nationals assumes even greater importance, he said.
He directed authorities to take priority measures at all airports in the country to ensure the smooth arrival and departure of Chinese citizens.
During the briefing, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi informed the prime minister about the enhanced security protocols for Chinese nationals.
Officials noted that in view of potential terrorist threats, the federal government and all provinces were working in full coordination to enforce special arrangements, including armed escorts for Chinese nationals and the installation of surveillance systems in new housing projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.
