RIYADH, July 30 (Alliance News): Conjoined Jamaican twins Azaria and Azura have arrived in Riyadh for a critical medical evaluation to assess the possibility of a life-saving separation surgery.

The humanitarian initiative is being carried out under the direct guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) confirmed on Tuesday that the twins were transported aboard a medical evacuation aircraft provided by the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport, they were immediately transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City, where a specialized team began a detailed assessment of their medical condition.

Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, who is also heading the surgical team, praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership for prioritizing global humanitarian efforts.

“This noble initiative reflects the Kingdom’s unparalleled medical capabilities and unwavering commitment to helping children facing life-threatening conditions,” he said.

Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted that Saudi Arabia has successfully conducted dozens of complex conjoined twin separation surgeries, placing it at the forefront of global medical humanitarianism.

The twins’ parents expressed profound gratitude to the Saudi leadership and people. “We are overwhelmed by the compassion and support shown to us. This opportunity gives our daughters a real chance at life,” they said.

The next few days will be critical as doctors evaluate whether the delicate separation surgery is medically viable. If approved, the operation could bring renewed hope and a new beginning for the twin girls and their family.
