RAWALPINDI, Aug 26 (Alliance News): PTI founder Imran Khan has requested Rawalpindi police to register a case against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and eight officials, accusing them of denying him basic facilities in Adiala jail.
Through his lawyer Tabish Farooq, Khan petitioned CPO Khalid Hamdani to take action against Maryam Nawaz, the jail superintendent, ASP Zainab, SHO Aizaz and others.
The plea alleges that Khan is being “kept in darkness,” denied visitation rights, and harassed on the CM’s orders, in violation of court directives.
In a related matter, an ATC in Rawalpindi granted exemption from appearance to Imran’s sister Aleema Khanum in a case linked to PTI’s November 26 protest. The hearing was adjourned until September 2.
Meanwhile, PTI slammed Maryam Nawaz’s “royal-style” trip to Japan, alleging Punjab was burdened with Rs405 billion in loans within 38 days of the new fiscal year.
The party also accused the government of manipulating wheat prices to exploit farmers and benefit profiteers.
Jail authorities, however, dismissed Khan’s claims, saying similar petitions had been repeatedly rejected by the Islamabad High Court as “baseless and fabricated.”
