ISLAMABAD, Jul 4 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday invited Turkish companies to expand their investment in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s improving business environment and vast opportunities in strategic sectors during meetings with leading Turkish business executives in Istanbul.
The prime minister, who is on an official visit to Türkiye at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met senior executives of the country’s leading business groups and industry organisations to strengthen economic cooperation and attract greater foreign investment, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meetings, Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Türkiye and transforming the longstanding brotherly relationship between the two countries into a stronger trade and investment partnership.
He invited Turkish companies to invest in priority sectors, including energy, mining and minerals, infrastructure, maritime and logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture and the privatisation programme.
The prime minister said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) continues to provide one-window facilitation and institutional support to strategic investors, ensuring a transparent and business-friendly investment environment.
Turkish business leaders appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms, improving investment climate and investor-friendly policies. They expressed confidence in the country’s economic outlook and showed interest in expanding investments and building long-term partnerships across multiple strategic sectors.
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Turkcell to discuss expanding Pakistan-Türkiye cooperation in digital technologies and telecommunications.
During the meeting, the prime minister shared the government’s vision of establishing a Pakistan-Türkiye Digital Corridor to enhance regional digital connectivity, enable secure cross-border data flows and strengthen digital infrastructure integration.
He invited Turkcell to explore long-term collaboration with Pakistani institutions in 5G deployment, network optimisation, spectrum management, digital infrastructure and technology transfer. He also encouraged partnerships in the local manufacturing of telecommunications equipment, software development, digital skills training and capacity building.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to a transparent, predictable and investment-friendly business environment, the prime minister said Pakistan remains committed to facilitating strategic investments in high-value sectors, particularly information and communication technologies, through the SIFC.
The Turkcell CEO appreciated Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda and expressed keen interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration in telecommunications, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working closely with Pakistani stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that support the shared economic and technological goals of both countries.
