Govt seeks review of SC order on Imran Khan’s hospital transfer

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (Alliance News): The federal government on Wednesday filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s order directing the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital in Islamabad.

The review petition was filed by Chief Commissioner Islamabad through the Advocate General Islamabad, challenging the court’s order issued a day earlier in the case concerning meetings between Imran Khan and his sisters and access to his personal doctors.

The petition argued that the Pakistan Prison Rules, 1978 clearly define the procedure for transferring prisoners to hospitals and alleged that the Supreme Court’s order overlooked the relevant rules.

It further contended that the order was issued without serving notice on all parties and raised questions under Article 10-A, which guarantees the right to a fair trial.

The government also argued that final relief could not be granted at an interim stage and that the court had issued the order without first deciding serious legal questions regarding the maintainability of the petitions.

The Supreme Court had ordered Imran Khan’s transfer to Al-Shifa Hospital until the next hearing and directed that his sister Uzma Khan and personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan be allowed to meet him.
