ISLAMABAD, July 5 (Alliance News): The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Friends of Rwanda, hosted a grand reception to commemorate Kwibohora 32, marking the 32nd Liberation Day of Rwanda.

The ceremony highlighted the country’s extraordinary journey from tragedy to transformation, celebrating over three decades of national unity, reconciliation, economic development, and sustainable prosperity.

The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of diplomats, senior government officials, members of parliament, ambassadors from various countries, business leaders, academics, representatives of the United Nations, members of the Rwandan community residing in Pakistan, and Friends of Rwanda.

The participants celebrated Rwanda’s remarkable achievements in peacebuilding, good governance, inclusive economic growth, and regional cooperation.

Delivering the keynote address, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, Ambassador Harerimana Fatou, described Kwibohora as one of the most defining moments in Rwanda’s modern history.

She said the liberation of Rwanda on July 4, 1994, laid the foundation for a peaceful, united, and forward-looking nation after one of the darkest chapters in its history.

The High Commissioner said Rwanda’s transformation over the last 32 years stands as a testament to visionary leadership, national resilience, and the determination of its people.

She highlighted the country’s achievements in healthcare, education, digital innovation, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, tourism, and investment, noting that Rwanda has emerged as one of Africa’s fastest-growing and most stable economies.

Ambassador Fatou also emphasized the growing partnership between Rwanda and Pakistan, stating that bilateral relations have witnessed steady progress in recent years through enhanced diplomatic engagement, trade, education, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

She expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand in areas of mutual interest.

Speaking as the chief guest, Senator Talha Mahmood congratulated the people and government of Rwanda on the occasion of their 32nd Liberation Day and commended the country’s remarkable journey of national reconstruction and economic progress.

He said Rwanda has become a global example of resilience, unity, and visionary leadership by transforming itself into a peaceful and prosperous nation within a relatively short period.

Senator Talha Mahmood said Pakistan greatly values its friendly relations with Rwanda and remains committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, agriculture, and parliamentary diplomacy.

He noted that both countries share common aspirations for sustainable development, regional peace, and international cooperation.

The senator also appreciated Rwanda’s impressive achievements in governance, technological innovation, women’s participation in leadership, and environmental conservation. He expressed hope that both nations would continue to deepen collaboration through high-level exchanges and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The reception reflected the warmth of Rwanda-Pakistan relations, with participants acknowledging the importance of stronger diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries.

Diplomats and guests also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in emerging sectors, including information technology, climate resilience, higher education, healthcare, and business development.

A highlight of the evening was the ceremonial cake-cutting marking Rwanda’s 32nd Liberation Day, symbolizing the country’s continued commitment to unity, peace, and national progress.

Guests were also treated to captivating performances of traditional Rwandan music and cultural presentations that showcased the country’s rich heritage and vibrant traditions.

The event further featured an exclusive tasting session of Rwanda’s internationally acclaimed specialty coffee, providing guests with an authentic experience of one of the country’s globally recognized exports.

The coffee presentation served as an opportunity to promote Rwanda’s growing agricultural and export potential while introducing visitors to its renowned hospitality.

The celebration concluded with renewed commitments from both Rwandan and Pakistani officials to further strengthen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.

Participants praised Rwanda’s inspiring development story and expressed optimism that the friendship between Pakistan and Rwanda would continue to flourish through enhanced diplomatic engagement, economic collaboration, and cultural exchanges.
