Fawad urges PTI to review its policies

ISLAMABAD, July 9, 2026 (Alliance News): Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should revisit its political strategy and leadership approach, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable solution to the country’s political challenges.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said the party needed to bring forward leaders capable of engaging in meaningful political dialogue. He claimed that the party’s current secretary general and chairman had no real association with PTI and urged the leadership to reconsider its direction.

He said the political process should begin through dialogue, adding that negotiations were the only way to resolve the ongoing political crisis.

Commenting on the party’s internal affairs, Fawad Chaudhry said Aleema Khan was not a politician and that individuals experienced in political strategy were currently absent from the party.

He also said recent public discussions had shifted from the release of PTI founder Imran Khan to matters relating to his medical consultations.

Referring to earlier remarks, Fawad Chaudhry said the party had effectively outsourced its leadership to individuals who had previously opposed PTI, adding that the current leadership appeared uncertain about its future course.

He suggested that the PTI founder’s family should decide who would lead the party and also commented on possible political contacts, saying any meeting involving opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai should produce meaningful results.

According to Fawad Chaudhry, it would be more productive for Achakzai to meet the prime minister before holding talks with the PTI founder.
