10-year-old girl found dead at Lahore tuition centre, murder case registered

LAHORE, Jul 10 (Alliance News): Police have registered a murder case after a 10-year-old girl was found dead in the bathroom of a private tuition centre in Lahore’s Ichhra area, officials said on Friday.

The case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, Muhammad Adnan, while police said the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem examination and forensic reports.

According to police, the girl had gone to attend classes at the tuition centre, where she had been studying for about one and a half years. She was later found unconscious inside the washroom.

Teachers, family members and local residents reportedly broke open the locked bathroom door after the child went missing. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Police said an investigation is underway and all possible angles are being examined. Officials added that the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident would become clear after the completion of the post-mortem and forensic investigations.

The victim’s father said he received a phone call informing him that his daughter had fallen unconscious at the tuition centre. He alleged that there were no marks on her neck when she left home and appealed to the Punjab government to ensure justice.

Meanwhile, Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal sought a report from the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and directed police to conduct a transparent and merit-based investigation.

Expressing sorrow over the child’s death, the minister said the affected family would be provided justice and strict action would be taken against those found responsible.
