ISLAMABAD, Aug 06 (Alliance News): Seventeen Sudanese engineers have successfully completed an eight-week advanced training programme in cybersecurity, data analytics and cloud computing, jointly organized by the COMSTECH and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES).
The programme, held from June 6 to August 6, concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony at the FAST-NUCES Islamabad campus.
Designed to strengthen practical skills in cybersecurity, cloud-based systems and data analytics, the programme aimed to enhance the technical capabilities of engineers from Sudan.
The ceremony was attended by Sudan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, COMSTECH Coordinator General Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, FAST-NUCES Rector Aftab Ahmad Maroof, Islamabad Campus Director Waseem Shahzad, faculty members, COMSTECH officials and the participating engineers.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary said human resource development and advanced technical training remained central to COMSTECH’s mission of strengthening scientific and technological capacity across OIC member states.
He said supporting engineers, scientists and professionals from countries facing difficult circumstances reflected the spirit of cooperation among Muslim nations.
He appreciated FAST-NUCES for designing and delivering the specialized programme, thanked the Embassy of Sudan for facilitating the participation of the engineers and acknowledged the Prime Institute of Health Sciences for providing accommodation and hospitality to the trainees during their stay in Islamabad.
Sudanese Ambassador Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig thanked COMSTECH, FAST-NUCES and the Government of Pakistan for extending educational and professional support to Sudan during a challenging period.
He described the initiative as a practical demonstration of solidarity among OIC member states and expressed hope that cooperation would expand to other academic, scientific and technical fields.
FAST-NUCES Rector Dr. Aftab Ahmad Maroof said the university was encouraged by the success of the programme and reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with COMSTECH on future training initiatives in cybersecurity, semiconductor and chip design, data science and other emerging technologies.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Ahmed Mohamed Alhafiz Hassan Zainalabdin thanked COMSTECH and FAST-NUCES for providing valuable academic and technical training.
He said the programme had significantly enhanced the engineers’ practical expertise in cybersecurity, cloud computing and data analytics and would contribute to Sudan’s digital transformation and institutional development.
The organisers said the initiative was part of broader efforts to connect professionals from OIC member states with leading universities and technical institutions to promote specialized training, knowledge exchange and human resource development.
