Islamabad, Aug 17 (Alliance News): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to raise the issues surrounding the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections and the creation of new provinces in Parliament, party sources said on Monday.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to respond in Parliament to the AJK election results and raise the party’s concerns over alleged rigging and the electoral process.
According to sources, Bilawal is likely to address the National Assembly within the next two days and discuss negotiations with the federal government over the political situation arising from the AJK elections.
PPP lawmakers are also expected to voice their views on the creation of new provinces on the floor of the House and stage a protest over the issue.
The PPP has previously maintained that any decision regarding the creation of new administrative units should reflect the will of the people. The party has also accused the PML-N of rigging during the recently held phase-wise AJK elections.
Meanwhile, PPP sources said the party’s legal team had prepared a petition seeking to restrain the formation of a government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The sources said the party leadership had approved the petition, which is expected to be filed before the Azad Kashmir High Court within the next 48 hours.
The PPP is expected to seek a restraining order against the formation of a PML-N government in AJK until the completion of the House.
The move comes amid growing political tensions following the AJK elections, with the PML-N claiming a two-thirds majority in the 53-member assembly after securing 25 seats.
