ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (Alliance News): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) desire to secure an NRO for party founder Imran Khan was reaching new heights, while criticising the party’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision on his hospital transfer. In a post on X, Khawaja Asif said Imran had received “extraordinary relief” from the judiciary, prompting celebrations within PTI. He said the celebrations reflected the party’s strong desire to secure the release of its founder from prison. The defence minister said Imran had previously demanded tougher treatment and imprisonment for politicians, while PTI’s current demand to shift its “iron man” from prison to hospital represented a major U-turn. He said Imran had already received medical treatment in hospitals and there was no objection to providing him with effective and comprehensive medical facilities. Khawaja Asif urged PTI to explain what he described as contradictions in its political narrative before celebrating the court decision. He termed the development “nature’s revenge” and said the Margalla Hills now stood higher than the “mountains of arrogance”. The minister concluded by expressing his prayers for Imran Khan’s recovery from his illnesses.
