ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (Alliance News): Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has stressed the need for young people to adopt fact-based analysis to play a meaningful role in society, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
Field Marshal Munir made the remarks during an interaction with a delegation of Harvard Business School students visiting Pakistan, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.
The delegation comprised students from several countries, ISPR said.
The meeting covered regional and global developments, Pakistan’s security outlook and the country’s efforts to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.
The army chief and CDF highlighted the importance of education, skill development and entrepreneurship, along with the need for young people to use fact-based analysis in an increasingly volatile world affected by social media and propaganda, according to ISPR.
The students appreciated what they described as the “openness and warmth of the people of Pakistan” and acknowledged the country’s potential and opportunities.
Field Marshal Munir’s remarks come as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting a lasting end to the conflict in the Middle East.
The CDF visited Tehran on August 24 and held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian Supreme Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
Pakistan and Iran also discussed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and efforts for an “expedited termination” of the US-Iran conflict in the Middle East, ISPR said on Tuesday.
Islamabad has positioned itself as a mediator between Tehran and Washington in efforts to end the conflict, which began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.
Pakistan previously brokered a two-week ceasefire between the two sides on April 8, bringing six weeks of fighting to a temporary halt. Islamabad has since continued diplomatic contacts and relayed messages between Washington and Tehran.
