Cloudy weather, light rain likely in Karachi

KARACHI, Aug 02 (Alliance News): Mostly cloudy skies are expected to prevail in Karachi over the next three days, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely at isolated places, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The Met Office said the maximum temperature in the city is expected to range between 31°C and 33°C on Sunday. Southwesterly sea breezes were blowing at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour.

The department also forecast humid weather, with chances of drizzle during the morning and night hours on Monday and Tuesday.

According to the PMD, the low-pressure system over Rajasthan has weakened into a low-pressure area, while monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea continue to influence weather conditions across most parts of Pakistan.

Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in several districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Matiari, Ghotki, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Qambar Shahdadkot.

During the past 24 hours, light rain and drizzle were recorded in different parts of Karachi. The highest rainfall was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadeed at 4.5 millimetres, followed by Surjani Town with 4 millimetres and Gulshan-e-Maymar with 3.4 millimetres.

Light drizzle was also reported in Jinnah Terminal, Old Airport, Korangi, North Karachi and several other areas of the city.
