China Embassy Hosts Spring Festival Event Celebrating Pakistan–China Friendship

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (Alliance News): The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan hosted a special ceremony titled “Chinese New Year, China–Pakistan Go Together” to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival, marking the Year of the Horse, and reaffirming the enduring friendship between the two countries.

The event brought together senior government officials, diplomats and distinguished guests to celebrate the new year alongside Pakistani and Chinese communities, reflecting the deep-rooted and time-tested partnership between Islamabad and Beijing.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the ceremony as chief guest. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Petroleum, the minister joined in the festivities and highlighted the historic and strategic nature of Pakistan–China relations.

Extending warm congratulations to the Chinese leadership, government and people, the minister said that the Year of the Horse symbolises resilience, strength and forward momentum—qualities that also define the Pakistan–China friendship. He noted that China has consistently extended unwavering support to Pakistan, particularly during challenging economic periods.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has navigated economic difficulties and moved towards stabilisation, acknowledging China’s crucial role in supporting the country during this period. He added that the next national priority is sustained economic growth and expressed confidence that continued Chinese cooperation would help accelerate Pakistan’s development trajectory.

Referring to bilateral cooperation in the mining sector, the minister highlighted ongoing joint projects and the significant untapped potential for expanding collaboration.

He noted that following the success of the Saindak project, the next major milestone would be Reko Diq project, expressing hope that it would become operational in the near future and further strengthen economic ties.

Reaffirming that Pakistan and China share an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed optimism that the coming year would further deepen bilateral cooperation.

He emphasised that economic engagement is expanding into new sectors, particularly petroleum and minerals, and reiterated that the relationship continues to progress steadily.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong underscored that China’s confidence in Pakistan remains unwavering.

He reaffirmed China’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan across key sectors including energy, infrastructure and minerals, and expressed optimism that both nations will continue to collaborate for shared prosperity and the well-being of their peoples in the year ahead.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed pledge from both sides to further strengthen their partnership, symbolising unity and the enduring strength of Pakistan–China friendship as the two countries step into the new year together.
