ISLAMABAD, Jun 21 (Alliance News): The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye have welcomed the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important step toward de-escalation and regional stability.

The development was highlighted during the Fourth Consultative Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the four countries, held in Cairo on Sunday. The meeting discussed regional and international developments and emphasized the need for continued coordination to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the Middle East and beyond.

According to a joint statement, the ministers viewed the Islamabad MoU, signed on June 18, as a constructive development that could help end a conflict posing serious risks to regional security, energy markets, international maritime routes, global supply chains, and international trade.

The ministers stressed the importance of maintaining the positive momentum and achieving a successful conclusion to the next phase of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. They called for a lasting, verifiable, and mutually acceptable solution to remaining issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

The meeting was held at the invitation of Egypt, where the foreign ministers of the four countries exchanged views on key regional challenges. The ministers expressed appreciation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for sharing his vision for the future of the region and guiding efforts aimed at strengthening stability.

The joint statement reaffirmed the importance of regular consultations and cooperation among Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye to support peace and stability in the Middle East.

The ministers appreciated the efforts of regional and international actors that contributed to facilitating the understanding between the United States and Iran. They emphasized the need for all parties to honor their commitments under the agreement.

The statement specifically praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping achieve the historic outcome, along with Qatar’s support in facilitating the successful conclusion of negotiations on the Islamabad MoU.

“The ministers lauded the instrumental efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in reaching this historic outcome,” the statement said, while appreciating Pakistan’s continued coordination with regional partners on the issue.

The foreign ministers emphasized that future efforts should address the security concerns of countries in the region, particularly the Gulf Arab states and the Levant, with the objective of strengthening collective security and ensuring long-term regional stability.

The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of resolving the Palestinian issue, stating that a just and lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without addressing the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people.

The ministers expressed concern over the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, reiterating support for the legitimate rights of Palestinians, including their right to self-determination.

They reaffirmed support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue cooperation and coordination among the four countries to address regional challenges and support diplomatic solutions for peace and stability.
