Lahore, Aug 16 (Alliance News): US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in trade, investment, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies during her August 11-12 visit to Lahore.
She also emphasised the role of US innovation and private-sector partnerships in creating jobs, expanding opportunities and promoting shared prosperity between the two countries.
For more than two decades, the United States has remained the largest export market for Pakistani products and one of Pakistan’s major sources of investment.
Baker reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to working with Pakistan’s private sector, innovators, universities and government to expand trade and investment and build partnerships that deliver sustainable economic benefits for both countries under the Trump administration.
During meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Adviser on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives Ali Dar, Baker discussed opportunities in emerging technologies, higher education and innovation.
The meetings highlighted the importance of policies and partnerships that encourage investment, entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
Her engagements with business leaders, technology experts and government officials also focused on expanding bilateral trade ties and strengthening cooperation in rapidly growing sectors.
At the opening of PF Chang’s new restaurant in Lahore, Baker highlighted the benefits of the US-Pakistan commercial partnership and said bilateral trade exceeded $8 billion in 2025.
During visits to US-linked technology companies NetSol Technologies, Code Ninjas and Game District, Baker observed Pakistan’s expanding technology sector and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in software development, digital services and artificial intelligence.
Baker also met students at the National Institute of Technology and highlighted the partnership between NIT and Arizona State University as an example of how US educational expertise can create new opportunities for students while strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
Concluding her visit, Baker attended a roundtable discussion hosted by Business Recorder as chief guest, where she highlighted US leadership and innovation in artificial intelligence and the importance of trusted partnerships to translate technological advances into economic growth, job creation and shared prosperity.
