First case of monkeypox reported in China, strict guidelines issued to prevent spread

ISLAMABAD, Sept 20 (Alliance News): The Health officials of China has warned the public to avoid physical contact with foreign nationals after the first case of monkeypox reported in the country.

The official said that an infection was found in China in a person who had recently traveled from abroad, after which he was quarantined, foreign media reported.

Wu Zunyu, an epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, posted on the social media platform Twitter that it is important to take precautions to avoid possible monkeypox infection, including physical contact with foreigners. To be avoided.

He warned the citizens to avoid physical contact with strangers and foreigners who had been living abroad for the past 3 weeks.

He said that due to strict restrictions and border control in China regarding Covid-19, monkeypox could not become an epidemic in the country due to which the number of monkeypox cases did not increase much.

Wu Zunyu’s Twitter post was shared by many Chinese citizens on various social media platforms.

Some Chinese citizens said that China’s stricter restrictions could lead to xenophobia, with some citizens saying that the association with the virus at the start of Covid-19 led to people living abroad with Chinese origins. The Asian people had to face the provocation.
