India and Japan begin joint fighter jet exercises for the first time

ISLAMABAD, Jan 16 (Alliance News): In view of China’s growing military power, Japan and India have started joint fighter jet exercises for the first time.

According to the report of the foreign news agency, India and Japan are increasing their defense and security relations due to China’s increasing military power.

The Minister of Defense of Japan says that 4 Indian and 8 Japanese fighter planes, 2 transport aircraft and an aerial refueling tanker are participating in the 11-day joint military exercises between the two countries.

Apart from this, 150 personnel of the Indian Air Force are taking part in the exercises at the Hiakori Air Base near northeast Tokyo.

In 2019, matters regarding these exercises were settled in the meeting between the foreign ministers and defense ministers of Japan and India, but the exercises were delayed due to the Corona epidemic.

In addition to Japan and India, Australia and the United States are also part of the ‘Quad’ coalition group. In the Indo-Pacific, China is a major country that is trying to increase its influence in the region and the world. In December, the government of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida proposed a $320 billion plan to buy anti-missile defenses against China, the first major increase in the defense budget since World War II.

Last week, Japan reached a new defense deal with Britain and the two countries agreed to expand the joint defense agreement with Washington.
