PM directs facilities to prepapre hockey players for int’l matches

ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (Alliance News): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to provide hockey players all kinds of facilities to prepare them for international competitions.

The prime minister issued the directive as Islahuddin Siddiqui, the former captain of the Pakistan hockey team and champion of the Hockey Asia Cup and the World Cup, called on him here at the PM House.

The prime minister said the national hockey team for many decades brought laurels to the country.

However, he pointed out that the current situation of the national sport of hockey in Pakistan demanded focus and attention.

Kakar hoped that hockey once again would regain its lost glory in the country.

He termed hockey legends such as Islahuddin Siddiqui the ‘real heroes of Pakistan’.

The government will take all possible measures to promote hockey, he added.

Islahuddin Siddiqui presented his autobiography titled ‘Dash Through My Life’ to the prime minister.

He thanked the prime minister for his participation in the final match of the hockey championship last night.
