Terrible traffic accident near Kallar Kahar, 14 people died

ISLAMABAD, Feb 20 (Alliance News): At least 14 people, including women and children, were killed when a bus overturned near Kallar Kahar on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, while the death toll is expected to rise.

According to details and local police report, 46 passengers including women and children were injured in the accident on the highway.

The bus that suffered the accident collided with two other cars and a truck on the road coming from the opposite direction. According to the police, the passengers were returning from Islamabad to Lahore after attending a wedding ceremony when their bus overturned due to a tire burst.

The police official told Alliance News that the rescue operation is underway and the injured are being taken out of the damaged vehicles and shifted to various hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to the police official, the police and rescue teams reached the spot immediately after the accident, and the rescue operation continued till late night.

Earlier, on the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his regret over the passenger bus accident in Kallar Kahar and expressed his condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased.

According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the Prime Minister has directed to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.

The Prime Minister also prayed for forgiveness of the deceased, patience for the families and speedy recovery of the injured.
