According to PTV News, the two leaders discussed the regional situation, international affairs and Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, including its mediation role that led to the signing of an agreement between the United States and Iran.
The UN chief appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and acknowledged its constructive role in addressing regional challenges through dialogue and diplomacy.
Separately, Mohsin Naqvi held talks with Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Alexandrovich Kolokoltsev, where both sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between their interior ministries to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The two ministers discussed expanding collaboration in counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, cybercrime prevention and police training, while reviewing progress on decisions taken during their previous meeting.
The meeting also focused on developing a coordinated strategy to counter terrorist groups operating in the region, particularly in Afghanistan. Naqvi said more than 25 terrorist organisations were currently active in Afghanistan and stressed that eliminating terrorism was a shared international responsibility.
He also invited his Russian counterpart to visit Pakistan, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Moscow on security matters.
