ISLAMABAD, April 10 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday announced that airlines have been directed to allow visa-free boarding for individuals travelling to Pakistan for the upcoming US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad.
Foreign delegations from Iran and the United States are expected to arrive in the federal capital this weekend for high-level negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict involving Israel.
The talks follow a two-week ceasefire facilitated by Pakistan through intensive diplomatic engagement.
In a post on X, Dar said airlines have been instructed to permit boarding without visas for all individuals travelling in connection with the talks, adding that visas will be issued on arrival by Pakistani immigration authorities.
He also welcomed delegates, including international journalists, attending the “Islamabad Talks 2026.”
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed extensive security arrangements for the visiting delegations during a high-level meeting. He described hosting the talks as an honour for Pakistan and directed authorities to ensure strict security and full hospitality.
A central control room has been established at the Ministry of Interior, while the Red Zone in Islamabad will remain sealed, allowing entry only to authorised افراد. Naqvi earlier assured US Ambassador Natalie Baker of “foolproof” security measures for the diplomatic event.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with more than 10,000 police and security personnel deployed. The multi-layered security plan will be supervised by the military and supported by paramilitary forces, including Rangers, along with Islamabad and Punjab police.
Security forces, including the army and Rangers, will guard the Red Zone and other sensitive areas, while Quick Response Force units have been positioned at key نقاط. Troops have also been deployed in the Margalla Hills to enhance surveillance.
All entry points to the Red Zone, except Margalla Road, will remain closed, with access limited to authorised individuals. Special routes have been designated for visiting delegations, who will be provided “Blue Book” protocol during their stay.
Pakistan is set to host the talks on Saturday following a ceasefire announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting Islamabad’s growing role in regional diplomacy.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has confirmed participation, while the US delegation is expected to be led by Vice President JD Vance, along with envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also confirmed the US participation.
The development underscores Pakistan’s role as a key facilitator in efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
