Eight Muslim nations condemn Israeli actions in Gaza, urge global action

ISLAMABAD, Aug 07 (Alliance News): The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, calling on the international community to take effective measures to protect civilians and uphold international law.

According to a joint statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the eight countries denounced attacks on medical facilities, healthcare infrastructure and civilian installations, as well as the continued killing of civilians, including women and children, describing them as serious violations of international law, particularly international humanitarian law.

The ministers said Israel’s continued actions constituted a clear breach of its obligations under international law and were undermining efforts to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.

They warned that the deteriorating situation could derail political efforts, further escalate regional tensions and worsen the already severe humanitarian crisis in the besieged Palestinian territory.

The joint statement stressed the need to protect civilians, hospitals, healthcare workers and humanitarian personnel, while calling for the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance, medical supplies and other essential goods throughout Gaza.

The eight countries said the situation in Gaza could not be viewed separately from settler violence in the occupied West Bank, the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements and unilateral attempts to alter the status of occupied East Jerusalem.

The ministers said these actions reflected a systematic policy aimed at changing facts on the ground by force, undermining the foundations of the two-state solution and denying the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

They urged the United Nations Security Council and the wider international community to fulfil their legal and moral responsibilities by taking practical measures to ensure Israel’s compliance with international and humanitarian law and to hold those responsible for serious violations accountable.

The statement emphasized that such measures should protect civilians, preserve prospects for implementing a ceasefire agreement and support efforts toward a permanent ceasefire.

The foreign ministers also rejected attempts to annex occupied Palestinian territories, impose Israeli sovereignty over them or forcibly displace the Palestinian people.

Reaffirming support for the two-state solution, they stressed that lasting peace could only be achieved through a serious political process leading to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital.
