ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (Alliance News): Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stoenescu called on Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House on Thursday and discussed matters of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, regional developments, and opportunities to enhance cooperation between the two countries further.
The Speaker warmly welcomed the Romanian Ambassador and expressed appreciation for the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Romania. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through greater cooperation in political, economic, cultural, educational, and parliamentary fields.
Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu congratulated Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on the successful signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as an important diplomatic achievement.

He appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and pivotal role as a mediator between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying that Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement reflected its commitment to peace and stability.
The Romanian Ambassador praised the coordinated efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership, stating that their collective vision and diplomatic efforts contributed significantly to making the Islamabad MoU possible.
He said the agreement represented a major diplomatic breakthrough that helped reduce tensions, facilitated the cessation of hostilities, and created opportunities for dialogue and lasting peace.
Dr. Dan Stoenescu highlighted Pakistan’s growing role in international diplomacy and acknowledged its efforts in promoting peaceful solutions to regional and global challenges.
He said Pakistan’s approach demonstrated the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and responsible diplomacy in addressing complex international issues.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the successful conclusion of the Islamabad MoU reflected Pakistan’s consistent commitment to peace, dialogue, and diplomatic engagement.
He emphasized that Pakistan has always supported peaceful resolutions of conflicts and believes in constructive engagement among nations.

The Speaker said the achievement was made possible due to the tireless efforts and dedication of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
He described the Islamabad MoU as a landmark diplomatic milestone that contributed to regional de-escalation and strengthened international efforts for peace and stability.
He added that the agreement further demonstrated Pakistan’s capacity to play a meaningful role in global diplomacy and conflict resolution.
Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan’s foreign policy has always focused on peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and cooperation with the international community.
He noted that Pakistan values its relations with friendly countries and remains committed to working with global partners for shared peace and prosperity.

The Romanian Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote peace, dialogue, and international cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides also explored avenues for expanding Pakistan-Romania relations, particularly in trade, investment, education, culture, and parliamentary exchanges.
They agreed that enhanced cooperation in these areas would further strengthen the historic friendship between the two nations.
The Speaker and the Ambassador emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in bringing nations closer and improving mutual understanding between peoples.
They expressed confidence that increased interaction between the parliaments of Pakistan and Romania would contribute positively to bilateral relations.

In a gesture highlighting cultural friendship, Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu presented Speaker Ayaz Sadiq with a printed version of Pakistan’s national anthem in Urdu and Romanian languages along with its choral arrangement.
The Speaker appreciated the unique gesture and termed it a symbol of cultural harmony, mutual respect, and strong people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Romania.
He said such initiatives play an important role in promoting understanding and strengthening the bonds between nations.
The meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their resolve to further deepen Pakistan-Romania relations and continue working together for peace, stability, and development at regional and international levels.
