ISLAMABAD, July 20 (Alliance News): Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z) chief and Member of the National Assembly Muhammad Ijazul Haq has said that the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan would ultimately depend on a political settlement rather than confrontation.
In an interview with a private television channel, Ijazul Haq said some national issues cannot be resolved through force alone and require political dialogue and consensus.
He said security institutions were fulfilling their responsibility of maintaining law and order, but political challenges needed political solutions. While acknowledging the government’s efforts, he remarked that its performance had not been satisfactory in every area.
Commenting on the political situation, Ijazul Haq said the ruling coalition remained under pressure despite its efforts, adding that foreign visits had not produced significant benefits for the country.
He urged all political stakeholders to exercise restraint, warning that political fortunes can change quickly and no party should assume it will remain in power indefinitely.
Referring to Pakistan’s political history, he said former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto had also reached political understandings during difficult periods. He claimed that communication channels with the PTI founder still existed and that attempts had previously been made to find common ground.
“A political solution will eventually have to be found,” he said, adding that the PTI founder’s issue would ultimately be resolved through dialogue and a political agreement.
His remarks came months after Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah stated that two serious attempts had been made to reach a political understanding with the PTI founder, but no agreement could be finalised.
