ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated Pakistan’s first-ever AI Cloud Sky47, describing it as a landmark achievement that reflects the country’s growing technological capabilities and demonstrates Pakistan’s ability to deliver world-class projects through unity, vision and determination.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister said he was deeply impressed after touring the state-of-the-art AI and cloud computing facility, which was completed in record time.
He praised the engineers, experts and institutions behind the project, saying it highlighted the exceptional talent available in both Pakistan’s military and civilian sectors.
Quoting national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Prime Minister Shehbaz said nations are built through fresh ideas and visionary thinking rather than bricks and stones alone. He emphasized that innovation, commitment and collective resolve are the foundations of national development.
The prime minister paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership, saying the project demonstrated what could be achieved when state institutions worked together with a shared national purpose.
He expressed confidence that adopting the same model of coordination across other sectors would help Pakistan recover from past challenges and emerge as a modern, dynamic and forward-looking nation.
“This journey will not be easy, but it is certainly not impossible,” the prime minister said, adding that Pakistan’s success during Marka-e-Haq had already shown that determination, courage and unity could turn ambitious goals into reality.
He said every challenge presented an opportunity and stressed that careful planning, innovation and sustained hard work would determine Pakistan’s future in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz acknowledged the contributions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Ministry of Information Technology, the IT Secretary and strategic technology partner ZTE for successfully delivering the project.
He announced that the facility has an initial capacity of 8.5 megawatts and revealed plans to establish similar AI and cloud infrastructure in Karachi and Lahore.
The prime minister directed all state institutions to fully support Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda. He described the AI Cloud Sky47 as a valuable gift for the nation, saying it would strengthen digital security, promote technological self-reliance and enhance Pakistan’s ability to compete in the global digital economy.
Concluding his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz once again recalled Allama Iqbal’s message of national unity, saying individuals derive strength from the collective power of the nation.
He ended his speech by praying for Pakistan’s prosperity and stability and led the audience in the slogan, “Pakistan Zindabad.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Ministers Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Attaullah Tarar, senior government officials and other distinguished guests.
