Ankara, Aug. 9 (Alliance News): Egypt is expected to join the growing defence cooperation framework between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, according to Turkish officials.
Media reports said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that a defence cooperation agreement aimed at building sustainable defence capabilities was signed last Friday. He added that another country is expected to become part of the arrangement.
Fidan said Egypt is close to joining the pact once a number of technical issues are resolved.
He described Egypt as Türkiye’s “natural partner” in the alliance, adding that Ankara already maintains close cooperation with Cairo on a range of strategic and security matters.
The proposed expansion of the defence framework is expected to further strengthen regional security cooperation and enhance defence coordination among participating countries.
