PM Shehbaz directs petroleum minister to ensure relief in fuel prices

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to immediately reach Karachi and hold talks with oil refineries to explore measures for reducing fuel prices and providing relief to the public.

The prime minister issued the directive during a meeting with the petroleum minister, attended by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Economic Affairs Minister Ahd Khan Cheema, Climate Change Minister Dr Musadik Malik and MNA Hamza Shehbaz.

Shehbaz directed Ali Pervaiz Malik to ensure steps were taken to reduce the price of locally produced diesel, noting that a major portion of the country’s diesel supply was produced by local refineries.

He instructed the petroleum minister to complete negotiations with the refineries at the earliest and ensure that maximum possible relief was passed on to consumers.
