ISLAMABAD, July 7 (Alliance News): President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Monday on an official visit at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, marking the first visit by a Pakistani president to the Central Asian country in 21 years.
According to a statement issued by the President’s House, President Zardari was received by President Sadyr Japarov at Issyk-Kul International Airport, where he was presented with a guard of honour.
President Zardari is leading a high-level delegation during the visit, which aims to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Foreign Office said the visit follows President Japarov’s successful visit to Pakistan in December 2025 and reflects the growing momentum in high-level engagement between the two friendly countries.
During the visit, President Zardari will hold one-on-one talks with President Japarov, followed by delegation-level discussions covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The two sides are expected to explore opportunities to enhance cooperation in trade and investment, energy, mining, agriculture, textiles, the halal industry, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
President Zardari is also scheduled to meet the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament during his stay.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy close and friendly relations based on shared history, cultural ties and a common commitment to promoting peace, regional connectivity and economic prosperity in Central and South Asia.
