ISLAMABAD, July 7 (Alliance News): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in Islamabad and several parts of the country, issuing a weather alert for the coming days.
According to the PMD, rain is expected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and southern Punjab, eastern Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain hot during the day, while partly cloudy conditions, strong winds and rain are likely in the afternoon and evening.
The Met Office said rain is expected in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Hangu, Tank, North and South Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan.
In Punjab, rainfall is likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara and Kasur.
The PMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Sahiwal, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur during the evening and night.
Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh are expected to experience hot and humid weather. However, partly cloudy conditions with rain are likely in Umerkot, Islamkot, Tharparkar, Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu and adjoining areas.
The Meteorological Department has advised the public to remain cautious during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, particularly in low-lying areas where urban flooding may occur.
