LAHORE, Jan 31 (Alliance News): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the unveiling of the national team’s official jersey for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, citing “unavoidable reasons,” amid uncertainty over Pakistan’s participation in the tournament, sources told Geo News on Saturday.
According to well-placed sources, the PCB had planned to reveal the team’s official kit following the toss of the second T20 International against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
However, the ceremony was deferred as discussions continue over Pakistan’s involvement in the marquee event, scheduled to begin on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
Sources said the PCB is expected to take a final decision on Pakistan’s participation after high-level consultations on Monday. Pakistan are currently slated to open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on February 7 and have been placed in Group A alongside India, the USA and Namibia.
Earlier, the PCB announced a 15-member squad for the tournament on January 25 during a media conference attended by PCB Director of High Performance and national selection committee member Aqib Javed, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and T20I captain Salman Ali Agha.
Several players, including Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf and Sahibzada Farhan, earned their maiden call-ups for a major ICC event, while senior players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan bring World Cup experience to the squad.
Under the ICC’s “Fusion Formula,” Pakistan will play all of their matches in Sri Lanka, ensuring neutral venues for fixtures involving India and Pakistan during the agreed three-year cycle.
