Punjab farmers to receive Rs250,000 under ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’ scheme

LAHORE, July 6 (Alliance News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that eligible farmers cultivating five acres of land under the provincial government’s “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” scheme will receive Rs250,000 in financial assistance to support agricultural production.

Addressing a ceremony, the chief minister said the Punjab government would provide Rs50,000 per acre to beneficiaries to help meet cultivation expenses. She added that the selection of beneficiaries was conducted through a transparent balloting process based on merit.

Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government was committed to strengthening the agriculture sector and increasing crop production across Punjab. She directed the Agriculture Department to identify additional land to expand the scope of the initiative and enable more farmers to benefit from the programme.

She said the scheme aims to empower farmers from Thar, Potohar, southern Punjab, and central Punjab by providing them with opportunities to improve their livelihoods through modern farming.

Under the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” programme, 30,000 farmers have each been allocated five acres of agricultural land on a free 20-year lease to encourage sustainable farming and rural economic development.

The chief minister congratulated the successful applicants and assured them that, in addition to financial assistance, the government would also provide technical guidance and agricultural support to help them maximize productivity.

The Punjab government says the initiative is part of its broader strategy to strengthen food security, promote agricultural growth, and improve the economic conditions of farming communities across the province.
